Thomas Merton (1915-1965) is a highly influential Catholic author, poet, and artist who wrote on spirituality, race, non-violence, civil rights, and contemplative prayer. His writings continue to have relevance to today’s world and our lives. This overnight retreat is led by Mark Meade (live via Zoom), Assistant Director of the Thomas Merton Center, who will engage us in a prayerful experience using Thomas Merton’s poetry.
Benet House is a chapter of the International Thomas Merton Society (International Merton Society) and meets 6 times a year. Using videos, writings, and Tuesdays with Merton links, our Chapter learns more about Merton’s depth of thinking and how his writings are applicable today as when he wrote them. If interested in being in our Chapter, please contact Sr. Bobbi at rbussan@smmsisters.org for more information.
